Are you wanting to focus on the transition to the green economy? Rather than replacing industries, we can support diversification, innovation and workforce adaption. Together we can chart a path to net gains in jobs and regional investment.
It is all part of Green Growth. Download my Green Growth introductory explainer to find out more. Or would you like to know if you are making progress? You can use my Evaluation Tool for assessing your progress on Regional Resilience and Green Growth.
The Green Growth Imperative
Why are the greener aspects of economic and regional development important? Our climate is changing — as are the expectations for our economies and businesses to contribute to the ecological health and community wealth.
To meet expectations and adapt to the changing conditions we must strengthen economies, workforces, value chains and communities. We can do this through green growth, building resilience to climate/nature’s shocks. Furthermore, we can set the pace for the transition to vibrant, circular, net zero and nature positive economies. This will ensure our industries and communities are not left behind nor impacted as the world changes. Instead we can identify the potential risks that can be prevented or mitigated by early adaptation. Equally we can find new opportunities and shared action agendas that advance our industries. We will have new and existing technologies purposefully used to improve performance, efficiency and reduce costs.
Working with planners and environment colleagues, we will have flourishing industries in landscapes, ecosystems and operations that use green spaces, water sensitive urban design and ecosystems as buffers.
